The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute has released a new guideline on the therapeutic use of medical cannabis that has a 2-fold purpose: 1) Provide clinicians with a framework for implementing the therapeutic use of medical cannabis in their outpatient settings, and 2) Increase access to evidence-based medical cannabis treatment for ambulatory patients. The guideline emphasizes safe use of medical cannabis when other treatments have failed and as a harm-reduction strategy.
